Default Boosting question...

Come my birthday, and while the truck is still in storage, I think I'm gonna go ahead and turbo the beast...

Now, I've already planned on Ross pistons, and Scat rods, and a forged crankshaft, and a sullivan intake manifold... all from AirRam's site...

I'm debating on a cam, hopefully they're still available when I do this... I'm looking at a 224 grind turbo application grind for the truck...

I'm gonna prolly need a new hood to stuff that intake manifold under there... so that too...

Here's where my dilemma starts...

I'm looking into the turbo route, obviously... but I'm not a big fan of the remote turbo deal... mainly cause of all the piping and what not... turbo lag... and so forth...

I want an in engine bay turbo and intercooled setup...

How the eff am I going to do this?

I'm going to need turbo manifolds... how do they work on v8 motors? do both manifolds run into one pipe and then into the turbo?

I've got the majority of this possible setup planned out, and figured out, except that part... it's got me so lost...

Any help?

Just make sure your grandma isnt going to pick the Turbo off your birthday list, you dont want to end up with an "electric" turbo from ebay.

first off, forget the sullivan intake, by looking at the design, it wont fit under our hoods. dont forget airram has a fullsize. also, go with a remote turbo, much better and you wont have to modify the engine compartment, that is my install for this winter. should be a nice set up. along with the nitrous,

he knows it won't fit under our hood, that's why he's gonna by an aftermarket one

I don't see what you have against the remote setup Frenchy. If you're worried about lag from the line you'll be able to rev her up a little bit and launch like a bat out of hell with the 6-speed.

Good luck with this build man. I can't wait to see you get started on it.

A properly sized remote turbo will not have any more lag than a properly sized front mount setup, this is a myth perpetuated by old school know-it-alls. The sales rep (who built his own 2000hp turbo race car) for STS didn't want the job when STS approached him for it because he said he couldn't endorse a product that didn't work, guess what, he drove their cars and quickly changed his mind.

Here is an STS on a Silverado, tell me if you notice any lag? Nope.
