Default Broken swaybar link.... common? Pic

My passenger side swaybar link snapped the other day, is this common? Just wondering if this is just a normal wear and tear or if something else might be wrong in the front end? This is a 2005 V6 dakota with 32k. I tried to buy a replacement from my local advanced auto parts but they only had the rear swaybar link listed in their system. Is this a dealer only part?

Its not a big deal, should only take a few minutes to install a new one. Just seems strange that it would break like that.

Right on, now you should be able to find a part# for it. I would print that up and check around to see if anyone local carries it.

I had both of my sway bar links go out at 12k miles. They replaced them under warranty and I havent had any problems since. When the guy in the shop took the drivers side one out it fell apart in his hands. Thats nice, lol.

It's dealer only as far as I know. Don't think the aftermarket wanted to deal with making end links with a joint in them like that. I broke one when I took my suspension apart to install my TM kit, they're made of cheap brittle metal (took me no effort to snap it using a short handle ratchet, and no I'm not a bodybuilder or anything). At the time only dealers could get the part and my local dealer told me they were out and it was on national backorder (never a good sign for the durability of a part). I ended up driving 2 hours to a dealership that still had a few in stock.

I will call the local dealer tomorrow and see if they have one. Do I have to jack up the entire front end to install it correctly, or just that side, or no jacking at all? Not sure if the swaybar won't be centered correctly or something otherwise
