Default 33" tires on factory ride height dakota

Someone gave me this picture a long time ago, and I cant remember for the life of me who, but its a stock dakota on 33" meats. I am sure it rubs like hell, but it looks great to me. Not much clearance remains in the front, but then again, its a no-lift dakota, no leveling kit, no blocks.

The look alone is worth the trimming to get them to fit IMO.

Just bored, figured I'd throw this picture up as a reference.

hahaha.... theres not enough trimming that could be done to make that pail turn! even if he removed the front flaps all together...... thats why the pic is taken the way it is! looks good but no can do!

So 32" tires are the largest that fit stock....right? And even then if it's an MT, you might need to trim....but they will fit....right? What is the worst thing that can happen? Tear off a mud flap? Kuhmo makes these MT KL71 tires in a 265/70/17. I think they are b!tchen, affordable, and get great reviews. They are 31.9" overall. I think I should be safe with them. They also make a 285/70/17 that is 32.7" overall. I would rather have them for the nice fat width, but they will probably be trouble without a spacer. Unfortunately they have no 65 series.

Sweet mprohr! I'm glad you mention 17s. Most seem to have the 16s and I've been researchn tires to buy. I've been leanin to MTs and those look pretty sweet. My bro's got a jeep with 33's on 15s that I thought about puttin on to see where the main rub concerns will be so I can determine if I can wing the 285/70R17

Yea, I'm pretty sure there is no way the 285/70/17 will fit. Diameter is one thing, width is another. These tires seem to be pretty wide for their rating. The 265 is 10.7" wide...on an 8" rim, they ought to look great, and still fit. The 285 is 11.5" wide. At full lock, that will probably be a big problem. Here is the chart for these tires if you're interested.

oh yeah, you'll never fit your bro's 15" rim over the brakes, so that idea is a bust.

i dunno...the wheels in the pic up top looks like 15s for a 33" tire. Not measured the brakes, but if it fits enough to see then his rim is 15x10 and a 33x12.5 tire so that'd be to judge fitment. Besides, Sleds has 285/70 on his stock 17s...of course he has 3 more inches. Either way I'm looking for what I'll need/can trim. Eventually, I'd like to find fenders that are a close fit and widen anyways.

What prices did you find for those tires?

The 15" wheels all depend on the backspacing. I've seen discussions on this, and most won't fit...some may.

On-line they are $165-$180 per tire. In this category, I consider anything under $200 pretty decent. Yes, yes I know I can get JOE BLOW M/Ts for $100 per tire. But no-one else has an assymetrical MT tire except for Goodyear, and they want $240 for the Kevlar wonders. I am going to go into local stores and offer them $165 per tire installed until someone bites.

looks good! I have been thinking of going to a 285/70/17, but am scared to know if they will fit or not. I have the 2" leveling kit in front and rear. I would really like to go w/ a tire that size though. And do some 1" spacers for the rims (b/c for some reason I like the stock 17" chrome cladding lol).
