I don't know if platinum plugs are crap in our engine since mine came with platinum on one side of the engine...but I do know that the 3923s haven't performed any better than the stock ones and could be performing worse.
Since I've put them in the truck will cut off on cold starts. I'm not ready to place the blame on the 3923 plug but I will try a different plug next time.

Here's the post I started about it a year ago (almost to the day!)
I'm hopin to try the E3's next. They're used all over HP tv.
this is due to you using the wrong plug in the ho. you need to run a heat range colder and that is the 3922's...I put the 3923's in and my truck pinged like crazy within the first 5min so I went back to work, did a little more research and found out that I had the wrong plugs...Installed the 3922's, reset my adaptive memory and the truck ran like a gem

What is wrong with the stock champions? Mine is due for its first plug change, and I had planned to just have the dealer do it.
How much of a job is the change with these trucks? I'm unfamiliar with this engine. My last truck (F-150) had coil on plug ignition and I ended up having to take the fuel rails out and everything to do them. If it's an easy change with the the 4.7L then I would just do it myself and keep my receipts like I do for everything else.

Well this thread made me go out and buy new plugs for my truck. I got the autolite 3922's per everyone's recommendations (on the 4.7HO). I was happy the truck started on the first crank! (usually I screw something up).
It took my about 90 minutes on the dot after a beer (or two) and a few curses from some knuckle pain hitting the engine! All in all, I only needed to move the air intake in order to get to 2 of the plugs. Not too bad, but damn those things sure are deep! I am glad I have an eclectic variety of extensions or else I may have had a harder time.
Ill let you all know about gas MPG and idleing. So far the idle seems a little more stable...but it could just be me :dunno: I did have a question though. Should I unplug the battery for a few minutes to let the computer reset in order to adapt to the new plugs? I have no idea about that stuff. Thanks!
