Default Headers

So...headers. Who's got 'em? JBA or Gibson? Ceramic or SS with a powder coat or header wrap...
anyone NOTICE performance gains? A different engine sound at idle/WOT?
Recommend with my somewhat modified truck? (soon to add cams, tune, efan)
Would loooove to know thanx~

I was told by the service manager at my dealership back home that the factory manifolds and cats are actually pretty high flowing. He seemed to be a pretty straightforward guy and he definitely wasn't an idiot but I don't really know him that well so take it with a grain of salt.

As a side note how are your exhaust tips holding up in that location with all the crap coming off the front tire? Mine freaking rusted off, apparently the eBay translation for "Genuine Hooker Headers stainless steel tip made in the USA" is actually "Cheap knockoff junk made of garbage in China that just happens to be a very close copy looks-wise".

Mine don't have any issues, they are flush with the body so nothing ever touches them, and as far as stuff kicking up onto them it cleans off and they look new.. as for the rest of my exhaust I give it heat protection paint every 6 months or so. Well, this was all before I took off my exhaust and started running y-pipe only...

As for the new Y-pipe... what is our stock size? If I get the 3" in and 3" out would that fit with a new 3" exhaust? I'm asking mostly for where the dual opening is.

I love the JBA headers with high flow cats. When I would rev my engine to WOT I would hear the exhaust catch/back up. IMHO Headers, cats, performance muffler and duals are the way to go.

Two cats. You have a cat on each of your downpipes. When you get back here I will take you for a ride and you can check out my exhaust setup.

Word to that. If I do slap a turbo on I would have them stick on new cats and y-pipe while they are under there already, I will havta look into those. JC whitney offers more universal cats than magnaflow. A y-pipe is a y-pipe though, I'm assuming I just need a 3" one to replace stock..

Sorry to bring this up again but I still want to open up my Y-pipe and don't know which size to replace stock with? Is 3" in and out good or should I just have a shop make on at a certain size?
