2006 4.7 vs newer 4.7
I've heard the newer (08-up) 4.7 motors crank out quite a bit more than the 2005-2007 models. Does anyone know if the wiring and whatnot would be the same? Like say if one was to pull out the 4.7 from a 06 Dak and drop in a newer one of the 330 horse variety, would everything plug right up? I'm sure the transmission and such would probably bolt right up but what concerns me is the wiring and electrical system. I think if they are a better platform in stock form then it would probably be more logical to build one of the newer ones up. I had debated on a hemi swap but if the new 4.7 really has only ten ponies less and is a simple swap then maybe that'd be the better route?
The biggest difference is in the heads, if you haven't seen it, here you go.

and they are electronically controlled TBs... not a cable like ours. so you would need the pedal assembly, computer, and associated wiring.
The heads and intake manifold are the biggest differences, but I believe there were also some ignition differences as well.
I would think that with a port and polish/5 angle valve job, custom tune, and the intake manifold... the differences wouldnt be near what they are stock to stock.
I would actually guess they are real close...

I know the air ram site has the adapter for the intake manifold for the new 08-up 4.7s so that we can use our throttle cables on them for the swap. So do you think it would be a better deal to simply swap heads and intake?
for the extra power i would never go with the new 4.7... if your gonna do it right go with the 5.7 swap its been done and theres a hell of a lot more aftermarket support out there for the hemi!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the 08+ have 2 spark plugs per cylinder, and there is something different about how the exhaust manifolds bolt up
i think that could be done, but at least you would need the heads, intake manifold, tb adapter, exhaust manifolds, then find a way to make the spark plugs work, make your own wires, or just use one plug, of if you are lucky the 08+ coils will work with the 05-07 electrical, and if you go through all that, might as well do a port job and camms, then you would really have something, that all depends on if the heads will bolt to the earlier blocks too, and if the cams run the same drive also
So do you think it would be a better deal to simply swap heads and intake?

I would grab the intake manny, and just get your current heads ported and polished. with a nice 5 angle valve job with some solid lash adjusters and call it a day.
with different heads, means different cams. especially if they are as drastic of a redesign as everyone is saying. and you say you have 212 cams... that would be a huge waste if you had to get a standard cam to make it work. (thats a Big IF, since I dont know for a fact that the cams wont work.)

If you're gonna do it why not do it big, I considered if I was to go the hemi route why waste time with the 5.7? The 6.1 is supposed to be the same block size (correct me if I'm wrong) just larger bore and stroke. So assuming that is true would not a 6.1 fit???
425 sounds a hella lot better than 345 if the work involved would be basically the same.
And I've seen 6.1's go on ebay for just a little more coin than a 5.7...
