Default lift-a-dak

ok put on the 2.5 leveling kit and 2 inch blocks in the back that i purchased from suspension max. took about 5 hours cause i also installed new struts and tierod ends. love the look it gave me but here is the question. i seem to have a slight vibration in the front under acceleration. my concern is that the front drive shafts are at to great of an angle and will wear my cv joints out early. any thoughts?

Um, attachments not working...

Seems to me, from the numbers, you really didn't do much leveling. I think 2 inches is the max you'd want to put in front because it puts too much angle on the shafts. Lift yes, but it still has a little rake towards the front.

Did you have it looked at by a shop? Maybe something is loose under there?

Consider the geometry of the upper and lower control arms. A 1.5" spacer in the center of the fulcrum point will be more "lift" at the end of the radius. My 1.5" leveling kit was only about 1" thick.

An alignment should settle the front end a bit, see if the vibration issue still exists after the alignment and go from there.

Looks great though you go plenty of lift from that.

Looks good. Alignment should help the vibe. Now, go get some 32s.

I'm real curious about putting a lift or more so leveling a Dak. I spoke with a few shops and they wouldn't even touch a level kit for a Dak because a lot of people were having problems with them. Wearing out the front suspension and what not. Are there possible issues to consider with leveling a Dak? Anyone hear or having problems in the long run after they did it?

Any spacing or leveling any IFS front end on a pickup truck will have negative consequences.

Maybe they will never show, maybe they will.

There is a reason why many shops wont put on of these kits on. A good mechanic who understands how the front end operates on a modern pickup, understands why you simply cant put a crown spacer on top of a strut without consequences.

I for one went through 2 power steering racks when I had a leveling kit on. the second one lasted only 6000 miles. I have larger tires too. Dodge did the right thing and fixed it twice. Both times they told me it was the leveling kit, and the larger tires.

Moment I removed the kit Ive had no steering issues, for over a year and 12k+ miles.

It adds up.

Others on here have had NO problems with there leveling kits however.

Fact remains that on any IFS, the leveling kit will always throw off ball joint angles, possibly over extend the tie rods, and upper control arm when fully extended, etc.

I did an F-150 and we did a 2.5" leveling kit as oppose to the 3" option, because through many members suggestions on the forums, the 3" chews through upper ball joints very fast, so, he got the 2.5. Guess what, it still killed his upper A's balljoints, just took longer.

he figures since there like 65 bucks a pop for the entire arm, that its "worth it"

Just do some homework before you make up your mind.
