Default New speakers

Got me 2 pairs of Pioneers 6.5 2 way speakers to upgrade my factory speakers on the Dak!! I looked for them on the internet and found them at $49.99 per pair. I was in Walmart today and got them for $39.99 each pair .

Here are the specs:

2-way car speakers for 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" locations (pair)
injection-molded polypropylene (IMPP) composite woofer cone with treated cloth surround
1-3/16" PEI film balanced dome tweeter
power range: 2-30 watts RMS (180 watts peak power)
frequency response: 30-28,000 Hz
sensitivity: 90 dB
mounting tabs for use in 6-3/4" openings
top-mount depth: 1-5/8"
warranty: 1 year

So, this is going to be my project for the weekend and also i'm changing spark plugs!!

Are you running the factory head unit? If so, let us know how they sound with it. I want to get a set of Polk Db's, but they are $99/pair.

I replaced the stock speakers in the doors last year with Pioneer 6.5's, they sound solid. Overall I am happy with them, but I'm probably gonna put a sub behind the rear seat to get some bass though. I also replaced the stock radio with a Pioneer unit.

This is where Im on the fence. I really want to put new speakers in but I dont want to do a new head unit, but the stock radio will have trouble powering some speakers while others may sound fine. I just dont like the look of an aftermarket radio and I dont want to give anyone a reason to break in to my truck.

People don't break into cars for radios any more. That is so 90's. Now they go after GPS. Ask me how I know. I got broken into and lost my GPS and Radar Detector. They left my CD's and Radio alone.

I was only planning on buying the head unit, but the speakers were an impulse buy. 'Kid in a candy store syndrome.'
