Default Gonna have fun tomorrow

My whole back seat is full of goodies for tomorrow. I've got

3 quarts of Royal Purple 75w140 gear oil
6 quarts of Amsoil XL Synthetic 5w20 oil
1 Wix oil filter
1 tube red RTV silicone gasket goop
8 OEM Bosch Super spark plugs
Oil catch pan, funnel, and misc crap to finish everything.

If all goes as planned, the truck will get an oil change, diff fluid change, new plugs, and hopefully no broken parts. If I have time, I might even see about cleaning the air filter. Should be fun!

Pick up some engine enamel and paint that rear differential cover while you have it off!

Sounds like a fun day, the diff isn't that bad really, the gear fluid smells pretty awful though.

That's not a bad idea! I wonder how long it would take to do. I see they have a couple reds to choose from. I was debating on grabbing a chrome cover before swapping the fluid, but paint would definitely be cheaper (good after spending so much on oil and plugs). Thanks for the great idea!

Not yet. If I'm not mistaken, that is done every 60k miles. That said, I'll probably change it out once I get my next paycheck.

painting the rear diff. is a great idea. once painted. turn the house oven on to 200, put cover in for a few minutes just to cure, not to long or you will warp the cover. it will hold for a very long time.

That only works if you can get away with putting it in the oven. I did mine at my parents house since they have a nice shop for the business I can work on the truck in. My mom informed me on no uncertain terms if she ever found a truck part in the oven I would be shot on sight.
