Our trucks are speed density, so there isnt a mass airflow sensor. We have an IAT or intake air temp sensor, and MAP manifold air pressure sensor. using those sensors, our computers calculate how much air our trucks are breathing in.

The bat issue could be a dieing alternator or a voltage regulator. (not sure if they are separate or not...) A draw test would help to know if its gettign a charge, then losing it. If you have a volt meter, you could start the truck and see if its getting a good charge from the alt...
lol thanks for the defs i feel a litttle more edjucated now and slightly dumber at the same time lol for not putting the two together but like i said my buddy is gonna test it tomorrow in the mean time ill hafta to get to work and then there again will it throw a code if the CEL iisnt coming on? cause i may be able to get an obd tonight

Two simple tests can rule out the battery. Check the voltage before doing anything. It should be sitting at a minimum 12.65 on a digital voltmeter. While cranking the engine have someone read the voltmeter, and it should drop to no less than 9.6 volts. 10 or more volts would be better. Everytime you run your lead acid battery down, it loses capacity. If you say you've done it a few times, then it might be on it's way out.

You have a manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP) just above the water temp sensor at the base of the manifold.

Great info man! And if you guys dont have a multimeter, run down to your local Autozone/Advanced Auto and have them check the battery. They will do it for free.

Right on, a mass air would be up in the intake like an IAT although reading volume rather than temp, which we dont have. We have the other style, IAT and MAP like Eric and Blown have both described. In the end it performs about the same...

I would lean toward the TPS as well. That bisch will do weird stuff like idle oddly, startup hard, hesitate on acceleration, etc. You can test it with a multimeter and compare it to the factory specs. Bad gas would show up all the time not just at startups
