Exclamation ok so i got little bit of a problem

so i was changing my ball joint Saturday and i broke my cv shaft. So i bought a new cv shaft and i cant get it all the way on... it stops at about half way. I push and push and push but it doesnt budge. I compared the splines and they were the same. There is this seal, well it looks just like an o-ring on there that i think might be stopping me from putting it all the way on. Can anyone help me??
Thanks

my first guess is you haven't lined up the splines properly

the o-ring you are talking about, is it steel? that may be the retaining clip and some times they need quite a bit of force to seat them, a rubber hammer normally works quite well, or a block of wood, to give it a little nudge in, how did your c/v break? i pulled mine apart a couple times, but a little playen around with it, got it to slide all back together again

yep thats what happens when they are pulled to far, but its not broke, you can slide it back together again, just a matter of aligning the joint, and they do make replacement boots too, but for your install, try to give it a nudge with something that wont damage it and it will probably pop right in, there is a retaning clip in there somewhere that you have to over come to get it to lock in fully

update: all fixed. I just gave it a few love taps and some verbal persuasion and it went right in.
