rear diff vibration issues
Ok, I am overdue on changing my rear diff fluid (truck has 47K miles), so I don't need hammering on that. It is Dodge's anti-spin rear diff. I get a vibration when turning corners from a stop. Feels like it's slipping, but not sure if that's really what's going on. About six weeks ago, the fluid was checked by the technician. Full, no leaks, and no metal shavings. It wouldn't act up for them, either.
It's definitely vibrating now, only in the turns.
To prepare me for the worst, could I have a bad gear of some type (I would think there would be metal shavings in the fluid), would the clutch plates need replaced, or do I just need to change my fluid.
I have scheduled to have the rear diff fluid changed. The shop is pretty good, they have always fixed any problems I've had in the past. More than what the dealer ever did and for a lot less.
By the way, should I request a certain type of fluid (with an additive)?
I am new to this thread and this is my first posting. Thanks in advance.

Your fluid is no longer working, once it's changed the problems should clear up. If the friction modifier is not working it will cause the limited slip to kick in under turns and feels like it's jerking or rubbing and once you get straight it's stops. It feels the same if you use just straight gear oil and no FM. Change the fluid often (20-30K) and the bearings and clutch pack will last a long time, go another 47K and you might be replacing some broken parts.

Common failure with worn out fluid is bearings going out. On my previous truck I went to long on the first change and it started to make a humming noise when I turned. Changed the fluid and it went away, well a short time later I had gears installed. They told me one of my bearings wore out and welded itself together practically, they had to pound it out.
