Default Good Vibrations

Instead of resurrecting a 500 post thread, I will start another one since I can't seem to find the answer I am looking for: the shuddering while braking problem. There is a TSB for it, what is it for and how to get it done on a vehicle out of warranty (it's not a recall, so I would have to pay right?) I understand that replacing rotors, drums, etc really does not fix the problems or fixes temporarily? My truck will shudder occasionally, going downhill while braking at @ 50-60 mph. Don't notice it at other times and it's not like an out of round rotor shudder, it's different. soooo????

Never had this problem on mine before. I have to take it to the dealership tomorrow for the inspection to transfer the power train warranty. I will ask what type of work has been done on it by dodge before and see if anything done applies to your problem and let you know what they did.

Over time brake lines absorb moisture and start to swell. This limits the amount of fluid/pressure throughout the lines. This can make the brakes shutter or pull hard to one side when braking. When this happens you have to replace the lines. I just repalced the lines in a 95 last weekend and it solved the problem completely.

blown you talking about the flexible lines at the ends right? Not the entire brake line system from the master cylinder to the wheel, I hope...what a pia that would be lol.

Yep, the flexible lines only. Check them out and see if they look swollen. Does it pull to one side or the other or does it just shudder?

no pulling...just shudder that I can feel through the pedal and seat of my pants, not through the steering wheel like warped rotors would do. I was going to replace the drums and shoes first, though I have never had a set of drums go out of round on any vehicle I have owned....
