Question about directing air
I have a question about directing more air to my CAI. My cone filter and heat shield is mounted right next to where the stock air tube use to tie into the fender well. If I made this a sealed box with a lid, and ran some ducting from the hole in the fender well down to behind the bumper shroud area, do you think the air would be any cooler? The reason I asked is with as hot as its been, I checked the other day and the air inside the fender well cavity above the tire is VERY warm (black truck). I was thinking about adding a wide mouth scoop to the end of the ducting to draw in more air.
When I stop be lazy Im going to finish my air scoop. All I need to do is get it mounted and painted ..... maybe this week sometime.

You just want to make sure that you DO NOT make that intake be sealed or have vacuum from the engine. You want it so air is forced up the scoop when driving, instead of always being sucked up. If their is suction in that tube from the bumper, water can possibly make it in to the intake very easily. My .02

jkeaton,
The details for my ram air set-up are on this thread:

The final fabrication is all done for my intake, and all the pictures and a video can be found on page 5. Ill be painting it and doing the finishing touches hopefully this weekend.

I got my air duct mounted today! I ran 3" flexible metal dryer ducting from where Rengnath (hope I spelled it right) was going to run his. Held in place with heavy duty zip ties. Had to open the factory hole a little with my dremel. I used a PVC flage at the factory hole and mounted the ducting using a flexible tubing clamp. Just as a test, I covered the top of my heat shield box with some aluminum ducting tape and there is actually a suction from the bottom of the tube! I see what you guys ment about the engine creating more vacuum than the crappy "electric supercharger". Test drive was great. I noticed a difference, but if someone who never drove my truck were to, it prob. wouldnt be noticable. Either the humidity was better today or it actually works. Cant wait to take it back to edgewater again to race. Think maybe I will try the power wire mod tomorrow. Anyone ever hear anything bad about this?
I've got kind of a power wire mod. I fabbed up an extension wire for my air temp sensor and moved it outsife the engine bay along the frame. It works just fine.
