couple quick magnaflow questions

I liked duals off to the sides just to avoid getting to much attention drawn to me from cops. I figured if I could deflect the sound out to both sides, it would be better than straight behind if a cop was sitting there. Ive read you should stick with either 2.25" duals or a 3" single otherwise youll lose too much back pressure and low end torque. I have 2.5" duals and I did lose some low end, but in the top end the truck screams.

Thanks to jkeaton & rengnath for the reply. I like the look of duals also, and I believe the MBRP dual side exit would give me the most room for my spare (265 65 R17). It has 2.5 outlets, w/ 3.0 tips, but only a 2.5 ahead of the muffler as well, where Magnaflow system has 3.0 from y-pipe to muffler and 2.25 duals out, but only rear outlet, not side. Still undecided. Thanks guys.

Did you want me to get under my truck one night this weekend and give you a measurement between the two pipes? I know theres a fair amount of room around the 245/70/16 tire thats up there now.

No need to get under / measure. My spare is about 30.5 " diameter, yours about 29.5", so that's only about 1" total, or 1/2" each side. I just looked under my truck to picture the driver's side pipe coming over axle & thru, it looks like enough room. I also have factory tow pkg, but hitch platform does not look like a problem. Thanks!

I was under there today replacing the rear shocks, so I figured what the hell. Here you go; you can fit a 32" tire no problem, and a 33" would be questionable but probably doable. The measurement in the pic was taken at the center of my 245/70/16 tire.

He will throw in a set of tips for like $20 more. I had mine installed and welded at a local mechanic shop for $75. I thought about doing it myself but decided to pay the $75 to have it welded and lined up correctly, plus it took the guy that did it like 2 hours to do while the truck was in the air so I imagine it would of taken me longer If I would of done it in my driveway and not been as nice a job or welded, etc.... The guy did a very clean install. Make sure you call all the muffler shops around you for the best price. I was quoted anywhere from $75-$200 to install. I really love the look and sound of it.
Any issues with your spare tire, or tow package? I kinda like this kit....what else do you need other than someone to put it in?

Brian got the same kit I did, but with different mufflers. I did not have a problem with spare tire clearance issues. I did mine myself, took about 3 hours, start to finish. I had to buy one extra extension pipe because the pipe that came with the kit was not long enough . My truck had two resonators on it and I think the kit was engineered for trucks with only one resonator.

yeah well thats why i got my side exit exhaust as you can see in my album pictures...figured if i did get a flat i wouldn't wanna have to deal with the exhaust being hot and what not...but getting true duals done when i get home and still exiting out right before the rear passenger tire...look at the resonator page on here and you'll see the link for the muffler and tips!

Thanks for the Pix rengnath, you have the MBRP dual split side exhaust, right?
I like that kit too, but an leaning toward the Magnaflow dual rear - waiting to hear back from them on my questions & quote. I am ready to do something...quick!
