silly question, but is the system still armed when you start remotely? I mean, while your in the shower, couldn't someone bust out a window, get in and drive off?

I love the people that get mad at me for "wasting gas" when I start my truck up to 20 minutes early. That 20 minutes of idleing is well worth it ....

I have a viper with a one mile range on it and I love it. Any remote start you are going to do will suck. It took me 4 hours to install the same alarm on my Evo and my Civic, it took 2 days to do my Dodge

Why did it take so long? Is this a Dakota? I installed one in my old Contour and my sisters Cavalier and both of those took forever just because I'm a big guy and I couldn't hardly fit underneath the dash. I think it should be easier in the Dakota because it is much bigger.

On an automatic, the remote starter would shut off when the brake is pressed (to put it in gear). How does this work on a standard transmission?

I'm more interested in the alarm than the remote starter. I personally just like to have all this cool stuff and installing it myself even if it isn't practical at all.

Right now I live in Cleveland so the remote starter comes in use during the winter when I am at work or out somewhere. At home, I usually park in the garage.

I am trying to relocate to the Los Angelas area so that is one reson why I want an alarm (high crime rate). I also might install a carputer and some other stuff sometime in the future so it is good to start with the alarm.

All remote starts shut off when you step on the brake and or go over 5 mph. Dodge and Chrysler wire car *** backwards. You have to use more relays and resistors and diodes.
They use the same wire to unlock and lock the doors at different volts. It is just not fun to do.
