Default Check Engine Light ON :(

Ok, so I had been driving on the highway for about one hundred miles when my check engine light came on. I had an auto zone pull the codes. It showed up P0770 and P1175. Anyone else had these codes pulled before, and if someone has, what needed to be done in order to fix the problem. Thanks for any help.

P0770-4C SOLENOID CIRCUIT

I couldnt find a reference for P1175 in here: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...ster-tech.html

Looks like a problem with the transmission. If it didnt go in to LIMP mode, it shouldnt be anything too serious. I would reset the PCM by removing the positive battery cable and grounding it for one second, and see if the CEL comes on again. My engine light came on once from a trans issue and it never came back once I cleared the code.

So we know that P0770-4C is a SOLENOID CIRCUIT which is a transmission code....

I couldn't find P1175 code either so I'l take a wild guess that maybe you got the code wrong? so if thats a posibility it could be a P1775 which is also a tranny code so that would make sense....

Trouble Code: P1775
A/T Solenoid Switch Latched In TCC Position
Trouble Code Conditions:Engine started; vehicle driven to over 15 mph and the TCM detected the Transmission did not shift into 1st Gear (test must fail 3 times).
Possible Causes:
  • Related DTC P0841 may be present.
  • Intermittent wiring or connector problems
  • Extremely low battery (system) voltage
  • L/R Solenoid pressure switch circuit is open or switch has failed
  • Transmission solenoid pack is damaged or has failed
  • Transmission cont
-----------------------------------------------------

Another option would be that it was a P0175 which can be an O2 sensor, which could also make sense.

Fuel System (S2 B1) Rich
Trouble Code Conditions:Engine running in closed loop. IAT Sensor signal over 20ºF (-7C). Altitude less than 8,500 feet. If the PCM multiplies short-term compensation by long-term adaptive, and a purge fuel multiplier, and the result is below a certain value for 30 seconds in 2
Possible Causes:
  • Restricted fuel supply line
  • Fuel pump inlet strainer plugged
  • Fuel pump is damaged or has failed
  • O2 signal circuit or return circuit has failed
  • MAP Sensor has failed or circuit malfunction
  • ECT Sensor has failed or circuit malfunction
---------------------------------------------------------

So if both codes came up together, I'd have to take a wild shot in the dark that if its P0770 and P1775 then you have Solenoid/wiring issue. or if its the P0770 and a P0175, I'd guess that you burnt a piece of your harness on the cat which threw a trans code and a bad O2 sensor code at the same time.

Like I said, just a guess... let us know how it turns out for ya...

I found two references to P1175:

P1175 Fuel Trim Adaptation Additve Bank 2 Malfunction (BMW)
P1175 Electronic Throttle System #2 Close Malfunction (Hyundai)

Obviously something is amiss here....as these two codes look specific to manufacturer and mean different things....

This site lists all troble codes: http://www.yotatech.com/f16/obd-ii-d...de-list-27309/

yeah I know it's a taco site, but hey, wtf, no reason to re-invent the wheel....

Thanks for the reference page. Yes, Ueland, you were right. I meant to put the code P1775. The truck did not seem to have a whole lot of power until after it switched out of first gear, but I cleared the codes and all seems to be working so far. Thanks again for all the help. I'll just have to wait and see if the check engine light pops back on, but hopefully it won't.

How many miles are on the truck? Have you had the fluid changed latley? Sometimes if they didnt install the filter right it will act up.

There are almost 80,000 miles on the truck. The fluid was changed but it has been around a year ago. If there was a problem with the transmission, would the codes pop up again very soon after the codes were cleared?
