Thanks for the welcome blown287! Yeah i wish i could get bilsteins, i have them on my 1990 range rover and they are awesome. Yeah i noticed the rebound on my dakota seems rather "violent" if i go over 12 mph on a speed bump. Did you guys do the installs yourselves, and if so where they hard to complete?
I did the backs but not the fronts. I do not have a spring compressor so the shop on base did them for me. My only regret it that I didn't do it a long time ago. The ride quality is so much better.
you will need a wall mounted spring compressor. Those springs can kill you if you don't have the right equipment. It will run you $400 - $500 but it's worth it to stay safe....plus I have heard that removing the strut is a royal PIA. Best to leave it up to professionals.
You don't need a wall mounted compressor. It makes the job easier, but using a pair of standard compressors works just fine. However, you will need to separate the upper ball joint and sway bar link. It's a pain.
