I've been selected for Limited Duty Officer, so I will be commissioned to O-1E at my 17yrs of service mark. In Rhode Island I will go through Officer Transition Training before taking my 1st of orders as an Officer.

Never heard of Officer transition training must be a navy thing. Congrats on going to the Dark side. I have more respect for the officers that were enlisted once. the money boost with the E on the end of your grade is pretty nice my brother is a O-3E (AF) with about 16 years in and he is loving it.

oh okay it thought it was but didn't wanna sound stupid if not! its like OCS (officer candidate school) for the army. but you can't go to that after you hit your 10 year mark! can get a waiver but it takes another committment like however long you have in you have to do that all over again as an officer...like if you have 12 years in you have to do 12 years in as an officer before you retire! but i'd do it just gotta get that bachelors first! And yeah the E stands for EXTRA lol my dad did it and he went to officer side in the airforce after 12 years..he was an E-7 making 3800 a month...he went officer and started out making 4500 a month or something close to that! so he was lovin life! lol good luck...dont fail out man.

We have OCS, STA-21 and the LDO/OTC and they are all different. This isn't a pass/fail school as I've already been selected to pin on Officer in March. I will arrive at school already commissioned as an O-1E. The training is designed to help make enlisted to officer transition smoother. I will have to serve 10 years from the date of my commission to retire as an Officer. So I will be at 27 years when I retire and hopefully an O-4E.

On the Navy side of the house I have been through Basic Navy Scuba, Surface Rescue Swimmer and BSWIC school, so I don't think OCS would give me any trouble

I will start out as an O-1E (ensign) = 2nd Lt and I want to retire as a LCDR that is the equivalent of a Major. For us it goes Ensign, LTJG, LT, LCDR, CDR, CAPT
