Default bad growl

ok, new issue, truck has been great, just hit 100000 miles and i have a serious growl in the frt, it changes with speed so i am thinking wheel bearings, just did the brakes, new rotors pads. wondering if anyone has had issues or even had theirs swapped out. also only when i turn left does the growl increase in sound, but not to the right, had this noise before the brakes but not as loud

I'm betting wheel bearings. Mine started making noise around 55k. Truck rode a little smoother after I changed them also.

Wheel bearing is a likely culprit. I replaced one at 30,000 mi and the interior noise level drop was suprising. They can be obtrusively loud.

No rebuilding - they are fully sealed self contained hubs. Most shops get the part for around $100 and it's about $300 installed.

I would check to see if anything is stuck in the serpentine belt or if something is rubbing against it. If its a "grinding" sound then its probably wheel bearings.

If it's the non abs then napa has them for around $200 and thier easy to change. Just remove the brakes and rotors and 3 bolts and thier off (thats on a 2wd, 4wd is a little more involved)

RockAuto had them for $97 when I looked, non - ABS.

I was considering DIY but I said fck it and had a real shop do it. With a tie rod end too, it was about $375, parts and labor - cheap $60/hr labor.

There are 3 bolts that basically hold the wheel on. You can look up the procedure from a G3 Dakota service manual.
