Either one. ivegotcows, is putting 240 to the wheels as that is about what I would expect from an 08+ 4.7L. If you get the port and polish and a 212X cam I bet you would be pushing 265 to the wheels. Don't laugh, but I'm actually looking into this also. If I were to go bored over with .030 and forged dome pistons, ported and polished heads with bigger valves, keep my beehive springs and 224 cams. I think I could put down some stupid numbers. I can't make up my mind, lol.

Im gonna look around on ebay and call some junk yards around my area to find a set of heads for a decent price. IF i can find a motor for under a $1000 ill buy that port and polish the heads and get a set of dome pistons but that would be a project i might not want to get into. As for cams i have a set of h/o cams so i would just stick with them. Are there thinner head gaskets avaliable for the 4.7? Because a thinner gasket will bump up the CR just a hair.

Dakkkota, that is pretty close to what I was going to say.

Ruger, the number one failure of the 4.7L is the head gasket so you don't want cheap ones. Your best bet is to have the base of the heads shaved down to increase compression and get the best head gaskets available. Right now those would be Cometic.

I was lookin at the cometic gaskets so i guess there gonna have to be on the parts list. Im gonna talk to my neighbor to see if he knows anyone who does head work befor i pay to ship them. He had a 9sec pinto so im sure he does.
How much do you think you would have to mill down to get 10.0 to 1 CR?

If you do the port and polish not much at all. I wouldn't go too far. When you discuss it with the shop tell them you are SOHC with a timing chain/sprocket setup. They might even advise you to get a new timing chain as they do stretch over time.

I think if you got dome shaped pistons like in the HO motor, port/polish, bigger valves and 212X, I think it's quite possible to get 280 rwhp naturally aspirated based of what I'm seeing with ivegotcows dyno sheets.

I would like to get some dome pistons but thats more time and money that i dont have. I cant have any down time because my truck is my only vehicle so i would have to buy a used motor tear it down and build it. For now im just looking for a set of used heads so if anyone can find a set for under $500 please let me know.

Look for an HO motor then, they have dome shaped pistons with free floating wrist.
