Default H/O heads

So i know that the h/o motors have higher compression is that from the heads or pistons or both? And if its from just the heads will the bolt up to a non h/o motor?

Different shaped combustion chambers, dome shaped pistons, etc.
Check it out.

Do you think they would add a decent amount of power for the time and money involved? Or would it be better to spend the extra money and go with a set of heads from airram? Im just trying to figure out how to get more compression with out pulling the motor and putting new pistons in. I want to get 10.0 to 1 do you think i can do this with just heads?

Djwolf went with dome shaped pistons and the airram heads and I believe he is at a 9.7 to 1 compression ratio. The new 4.7L in the 08+ comes stock at 9.8 to 1 so its really close to what you are looking for.

According to Nick (airram) a 4.7L, with 212X cams, dome pistons and port and polished race prepped heads got 10.5:1.

All G3 Dakota's 05-07 come stock with the HO intake manifold. The only one better is the 08+ 4.7L intake manifold and that requires an adapter plate for use on 05-07.

Ruger I sent you a link. I know a G3 Ram owner who has a 4.7L with Killian's ported heads, HO cams, and hemifever tune and he's making 240 rwhp. That means he's in the neighborhood of 300 at the crank. Now imagine a 212X cam, bored .030 over with dome pistons.

For what the intake and adapter cost I really don't think its worth the $, just my opinion.

Thanks for the link brother. Do you think you can mill down a set of stock or h/o heads to bump up compression? I think the race ported heads from airram are way too much because i can buy a used 4.7 and put a set of dome pistons in for less money. I would buy another motor just so i wouldent have any down time with my truck.

Ruger, just so you know he got Killians premium port/polish, valve job, with new valves and HO springs for $800. He had to mail his heads to them for the work but it's still a pretty good price.
