Right now I have the SC and intake. So basically just the SC, I'm using the 93 tune with shift points maxed out. Are you first gen or 2nd gen 4.7L? The 2008+ 4.7L's are much more powerful than the earlier ones. My quad cab smokes my dads 2005 4.7 single cab. My quad cab 4.7L is also faster than my buddy's older 1st gen quad cab hemi, we've gone side by side. After he did a bunch of mods(SC, headers and full exhaust, intake, etc...) he smoked me though. I have yet to run right next to a new quad cab hemi, but from the times I've found online the newer quad cab stock hemi's run the 1/4 in the high 15's range. My truck will run right beside that, and if it won't, it's extremely close. I was somewhat embarrassed to post that 16.2 time lol, but on a nice cool night that'd drop to below a 16. Also keep in mind I have large, heavy AT tires(not an excuse, just saying...) The biggest problem I have with the 4.7L is no low end, I have an Edge 3000 stall converter coming that I bought off a member at the other forum, that should solve that issue. My goal is to get to a 15.0 with the tuner, intake(plus ram air), exhaust(I hope someone makes headers soon), converter, 4.10's, and maybe smaller wheels/tires if necessary, and a few other minor mods.

I've even raced my buddy's new RT and from a roll it's not all that much faster than me(or as much as you'd expect anyway)....from a dig it feels like I'm standing still though lol.

OK my foot's in my mouth....I was assuming you meant stock. They aren't impressive stock...

Sorry if I take forever responding....I don't get the email notifications on this forum like I do the other, so it may take me longer to realize there was a response...

Also, I'm not trying to brag that a 15.0 or 16.0 second 1/4 is fast....I'm just saying it's not bad for a huge truck with a 287. I'm not going for an all out drag car, I just want as much cheap/bolt on performance as I can get for the street. I'm using the drag strip to measure how much each mod helps, as doing so on a dyno would be expensive. I'll probably dyno it when I've done everything I want just to see where I ended up.

I really think the superchips dyno's are under rated, the truck feels WAY faster than the dyno shows...

In reality, if we wanted fast 1/4 mile vehicles, we wouldn't be building 5,000+ lb trucks...

ive got the 2Gen HO swap with some mild mods to support it and some good weight reduction. although i havent timed it in a few months my previous best was a 15.55

with s/c and throttle body on my standard 4.7 i put out a depressing 181 to the tire.

Thanks for posting those hypertech....looks like good results from your programmer. One note though, the second graph shows 07-08, but the 07 and 08 4.7L are different engines from what I understand.....that graph looks like it's from the 08+.

You can definitely see the gains in the 2nd gen 4.7L vs 1st gen 4.7L when looking at the first two graphs vs the third graph.

So does that mean you have a 1st gen with 2nd gen intake/tb? There are many other differences between the 1st gen and 2nd gen 4.7L... How much do the dakotas weigh? With a 15.55 you should certainly be able to beat a new hemi quad cab(stock). Yeah 181 to the wheel sounds like an older 4.7L. I'd expect mine to dyno between 250-270 as is. My goal is close to 300rwhp when I'm done, on the stock longblock. the hemi's dyno in a range of 280-320 rwhp, stock. It's hard to compare vehicles by dyno though as you can take a vehicle and dyno it and it will give 280hp, then the next day dyno it on a different machine and it will dyno 300hp...

That's a 1st gen. 2008+ is the new 4.7L. Different heads, cams, intake manifold, TB, tuning, etc... amongst other things... They are similar engines, almost the same to look at, but they are very different as far as HP numbers go, and many parts are not interchangeable. The new ones also have 2 spark plugs per cylinder (like the hemi), and have the same "nearly hemispherical" combustion chamber that the "hemi" has (the "hemi" is not a true hemi fyi...)

To sum it up, the main difference is that the new engine flows better and makes more top end power.
