Exactly, I can make a contract with a larger company that put the responsibility on them if their designs fail some time down the road rather than abuse from the customer. I am not talking like ball joint, like catastrophic failure. The would end in a truck being totaled, or a death that ends up in court with potentially hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars involved Are you going to be willing to do the same? Are you willing to put your house on the line over this? These are the things that dealing with a larger company registered the right ways can let me totally avoid.

no you didnt offend me at all. wether or not you get a top name company to pump you out a kit...i will have a long travel dakota no matter what happens. and you didnt mention contracts or anything until now. yes it would be smart to do contracts. you made it sound like you were going to cut them a check to pay for the fabricators labor, metal, etc. hoping they would design a kit.

and i know it doesnt stop and R&D trust me. i grew up around the herbst family and off road racing. i know plenty about part failure and redesign. and if i did sell a kit...it would be like many kits "off road use only" a big sticker im sure those big companies put on theirs too. and if a part failed that wasnt a wear and tear part like a bushing or uniball...than hell yea i would warranty it.

no i dont want you to buy me a dakota haha. either way no matter how it goes down or what company does it. im still building a 2wd long travel front and rear dakota. There are already a few 2wd dakotas in cali that are wanting to help out

desert_rat we need to talk about what we can do to help each other. not sure where your located but even if we have to ship parts to each other. what are you good at? we can easily design this kit. hell. ive already got longer control arms in the works.

and alot of larger companies win lawsuits because their parts say for off road use only. the only thing THEY put on the line is their name and reputation. which honestly. i would take camburgs or total chaoses reputation over superlift, pro comp, etc. anyday

I'm not here to start an arguement. Two things right off the bat, I know enough to be dangerous, and I don't work for Zone (although I have met Dave from Zone before). I post on here in the 4th gen ram section, because that's what I own... saw this pop up and it caught my interest. I'll let you guys in on some inside info. There is a lot that goes into making a kit. Anyone can make ONE kit, that's easy...somewhat time consuming, definitely not cheap, and there is no guarantee it'll work properly... (current project I'm working on (new kit for testing), 90% done, just need to put it all together, and fab a couple more brackets.)

The entire R&D process for a big lift kit takes about a year start to finish and costs 10's of thousands of dollars to do it right. It's not just 'hit the easy button' on my computer 10 times and it's done. Your comment that I turned to bold made me laugh... I get that vibe from people all the time, and that is really the only reason I'm posting...
