With all this hype on lift kits, what do you guys think of prerunner fenders and bed sides for 3G Dakotas?

I am studying composite engineering. I have helped out with a few r&d project with a local company in the aerospace industry, in Wichita,KS. As well, I have done my own projects.

I am a designer and fabricator, I have not designed anything up yet. Due to school, But if there was enough interest I could design a few things up. This is what I would want in a Dakota form.

Short course ranger - it is a stock 4x4 ranger with a 1 piece front end and prerunner bedsides, 3" wheel spacers and it is tucking 35" tires.

I believe our Dakotas sit up a litter higher therefore, we should be able to tuck 35" or 33" tires with a flare kit.

I think you have a great idea. Personally, you should fly out to Colorado and use my Dak as the fitment mule. I have to replace my driver's bedside anyway. This would make it so much easier for us to fit bigger tires with out the body lift. And even with the body lift, you can't go bigger than 33x12.50s with out cutting into the sheet metal.

 

That would look sick on a Dakota! I can't imagine how much that would cost though. Great idea!

I am studying composites at Butler, then plan on going to WSU after. We use a new process called Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP). It allows for more fiberglass to resin ratio, therefore making a lighter part (which in racing is good). I plan on making a prerunner kit anyway, but I want to know if I should make a mold/tool for a few runs or a tool for 100 runs.

looks good but i dont think its the fender's fault...you will need to cut firewall and the flare will need to be on the door.

what about rolling fenders like drift peoples?

 

Donkeypunch and desert rat, did you guys have to mod the firewall to fit your tires?
