Rear Blocks
I am interested in lifting the rear of my truck and passed on the idea of the add a leafs cause of the stiffer ride it gives you and turned to the idea of the blocks in the rear. Where exactly do these blocks install? and are there any drawbacks from them? Thanks
They are like spacers between the Axle and the leaf spring. You get longer U-Bolts and bigger blocks. you can lift pretty high.
Draw backs are easy to see, longer u-bolts means any severe curbing can knock the whole axle out of alignment easier. Like using a longer wrench on a bolt so to speak. Ever seen a lifted truck that seems to drive sorta sideways down the road?
Longer shackles are a prefered way. They lift the whole leaf and axle away from the frame... but I guess the gen3s have a real aftermarket support problem.
Thats the extent of my lift knowledge lol. Other guys here know way more.

I was just curious about the drawbacks about them and where they were installed, I wouldnt be doing this for a little while.
You wont experience any wrap or other problems as long as you keep it two inches or less. Quite a few trucks actually come out of the factory with a 2" block. The ranger, I think some silverados, etc.
The key is making sure you get good strong u-bolts, stengel bros make great ones.

Axle wrap has nothing to with u-bolts. It's the torque of the axle being absorbed by the leaf spring. There's no such thing as block height limit on avoiding axle wrap. As long as the vehicle is SOA then it's capable of axle wrap. The only way to avoid it with leafs is to be SUA or have a ladder/anti-wrap bar. All of it is relative to an increase in traction, hp/torque, moment length (height of spring vs block), and stiffness of the spring on when axle wrap WILL occur.

add a leaf is gonna feel very stiff with empty box... longer leaf is the best bet but expensive.
