I'm seriously considering a powered antenna....only cause no one else has one....dont know if it would fit, or how hard of an install it would be..

Yeah, with the winters here mine would just end up freezing and burning the motor up. Lol. I really want to just shave that hole and say screw the antenna. That would clean up the fender nice.

If it was on the drivers side, that antenna would be off and shaved just because there is a small dent in the fender that bothers me, so I would just have that fixed and the antenna shaved, and get a new paint job on that. But the passenger fender is my good one. FML

Yeah it is! I cant even see if from the drivers seat. Lol. I got it primed and sprayed with base last night. Today Ill put a few coats of clear, and then let it cure for a few days.

Does anyone know where I can find an antenna nut socket? We need a 3 prong one to remove the antenna base, but I cant find one online except a snap on one for $28.

I know Oreilly auto has them down by me... I would call around to some auto parts places and see if they have it as a rental tool

Yeah, Im going to stop by autozone and see if they have a no name socket or something. If they only have one for purchase, Ill buy it, use it and return it. All I need is to loosen it a turn ..... when I go to put it back on Ill just use a pliers to tighten it down.

When I go to take it off, will it fall down in to the fender?

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem...there is a cure for dickiedoo disease....happens to all of us....usually when your much older though....

Hey Bobby,

Did you ever get your nut off? I would assume so by now... Did Autozone let you use a no name socket to get it loose or did you have to pay up?

I ask because I'm thinking about slapping one of these on my fender:
3" Fairlady Z Short Blue Antenna
5" White Aluminum with BLUE protruding rings
I'm undecided so feel free to comment on which would look better on my Blue Truck! I think I like the all blue better, but it seems like I could pick up more broadcasts with 2 more inches?

Hows the reception in your headliner been? If it doesn't suck where did you find it? I will probably try the shorty reception first but I love the headliner antenna idea if the shorty reception is crappy.
