Default A real shorty antenna

Hey guys,

So I wanted a shorty, but I wouldnt call 14" short. Lol. So I found a 3.5" billet aluminum antenna and Im going to spray it body color. And since the short antenna wouldnt get much reception, I got an amplified antenna to hide in the headliner. This may be one thing that Im proud of being short .... It will be for decoration only, but no one else will know that. The only other option was to shave the antenna.

The wire that plugs in to the antenna and contains the hot wire is 9ft long. The short silver one is the ground. I was planning on taking off the A-Pillar and mounting it on the back side of that. It has to be between .5 and 3" of metal, and the ground wire has to remain the short length for best performance.

The amplifier is "supposed" to be better than any OEM mast. We will see I guess. I dont think I will even try the 3.5" antenna by itself ..... I wouldnt get anything but some crapppy oldies most likely.

Here are some pics from the test fit:

Does anyone know how the base that the antenna screws in to comes off by chance? I think I will pull it off and either paint it red or flat black.
