Default Remote radio switches added..almost :(

Well,
I have added the remote radio switches to the steering wheel, ran and connected the wires needed...but no dice

I am getting 5v and the switches are altering the feed, but the radio is not responding.
I tried my stock radio and the RER nav unit, no good.

Only thing I am thinking is that either it has to be enabled via starscan or the instrument cluster is different (parts manual shows 4 different part numbers).

If any of you guys with factory switches happens to take out your cluster, can you get the part number from yours?

Thanks!

Well, it looks as if there are only 2 models (MPH models) standard and premium, I have the premium...unless there is some weird revision thing.

Still not giving up.

Would the dealership have to flash your PCM for it to work? I installed aftermarket fog lamps in the wife's 07 Durango and they wouldn't work without a dealership flash. Good luck brother.

Is the tool required to flash a PCM to enable/disable certain functions available to the consumer or is it something only the dealers have access to? It doesn't sit right with me that I would be tied to the "stealer" if I want to add an accessory to my vehicle.

Nope, dealer only (starscan) tool. If I need this done, I have someone on the side who can bring it home and help me out

The Ram guys added these without issue, but one side goes to ground where our Dakota ties into the MUX return

Still not convinced it has to be flashed!

Our PCMs have certain "capabilities" even if the hardware isn't installed from the factory. If you install the item you have to pay the dealer to hook their computer into the PCM to enable those capabilities.

My Wife's 4x4 Durango was an SXT and didn't even have slots in the bumper for fox lights. I drilled out her bumper, painted it, installed the fog lamp harness and foglights. They would not work, come to find out if the vehicle isn't equiped with that option you have to pay them to enable it. Really pissed me off.

The Starscan as in this here?

Well I guess for almost 5K the stealer is still the better bet. Still a **** of though.
