Default Fuel consumption problem

I purchased an 07 Dakota SLT with a 4.7 engine a few months ago and have found that I am spending tons of money on gas.

I am finding that a full tank of gas (83L I think) is only getting about 450 km. Is this normal for a dakota or is there something wrong with the truck?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thats about 12 MPG, that is horrible. I would start with a complete tune up and check for correct plugs/gap.

I have the '07 4.7L setup and it only got about 16-17 mpg when it was new. Now I have 33,000 miles on it and it winter time and I'm getting around 13-14 mpg. Maybe 15-16 in the summer.

I know with gas prices the way they are it's hard, but try filling your tank with some 91 or 93 with either dry gas or some lucas oil fuel injector cleaner. The guys at the local performance shop told me you need to run fuel injector cleaner at least once a month because of the ethinol. I have an 08 dakota that I bought this past summer and when I bought it I was getting 17.8 and then winter came it dropped to 14.1 until I put my add on's on. Winter gas sucks a**

winter gas is horrible, but 12 mpg, un heard of. When driving down the highway I always use the cruise, drive 65 and go in the slow lane. gas in ct for 93 has hit 4.00 a gallon. but I still average close to 400 miles to a tank. around town, the 4.10 gears have helped out alot, no rabbit jumps, just smooth off the light, the other issue is the truck may have a bad injector also
