how bad is it?

The bad thing is you are looking at about 16 hours of dealer work, + price for parts, etc. If you pull the head yourself you are only out the price of the new gasket/bolts.

Btw while chatting with good ol Bobby, he brought a good question that none of us thought of ... did you get a CEL for a misfire?

Bill, I have given up on the CEL on our PCMs. Sean totally destroyed his left head and never popped a code until the damage was done.

I cant believe the knock sensor wouldnt be picking it up though if the tick was that loud. It should be throwing a code for excessive retard of the timing if anything, as the ticking should be mistaken for pinging since the knock sensor is just a microphone.

I think it has worked its way through...I just went out and took it for a few wot runs...if I can't fix it this way ill blow it up and get a new motor...

You can use your tuner to watch the knock sensor readings; that should give you a rough idea if anything is going on.

LMAO, not mine brother. If he has to get a new engine he is looking at 2k for the engine and about 1,500 to have it installed. Head gasket = $50 and headbolts = $35.

ouch your crazy lol... i would not be doing wot runs. my truck was running for about 20 seconds and it was enough to break 4 rockers and bend 4 valves.
