Default new here need help plz 2006 Dakota code

2006 dodge Dakota 2 wheel ext cab 6 speed manual
have P0344-CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR INTERMITTENT somewhat mechanically inclined what to do first ? engine running smooth except for occational bucking...will buck once then stop...Check engine light came on this evening code read at autozone.

Your cam sensor is bad.
Is your truck a 3.7l?
There the worst for cam sensor problems.
Do have problems starting or does your truck die from time to time?

heres a pic i took a while ago at work.



I think it mounted on the underside of the passenger side valve cover.

yes it is a 3.7l...checked and ordered part from advance auto for 20ish dollars and will pick it up tomarrow am. Truck always starts fine and never died on me...Thanks for your suggestion

ok is the cam sensor and the crankshaft sensor both located around the same place? part I removed had 90 degree angle and parts house says its the crankshaft sensor? replaced it and am now looking for cam sensor...haynes book is kinda useless

The sensor you took off was on the drivers side towords the back of the block. The one you need is on the passenger side towords the front.

If you go to auto zone they will code scan your truck for free. Just to let you know.

found the right sensor changed it running like a champ...they said it would trow another code within 6o miles if it was another problem....so looks like no more problems
