These are basically hollow mufflers that cancel noise waves out. I had two, removed them both.

So...I should get a Borla? Is that what i'm getting at? I dno't want to spend more than $500 on exhaust. Is Borla expensive? And Rebel, I don't know of any exhaust places around here.

I like mine. Spintech free flow catalytic converter's with the resonators and muffler removed and dumped before passenger rear tire. It is quiet from idle to 3000 RPM and then it screams!!

I have had a few different exhausts over the years, most on a V8 engines.

Borla, Magnaflow, Dynomax Ultraflow, Hooker Maxflow are all the same concept; straight perforated tube with sound insulation. They are mellow at idle and rumble louder with more throttle. Larger mufflers of this type will decrease the sound inside, but they can drone in some setups.

Hooker Aerochamber (V8 Dakota) has a distinct sound in that it has a more precise distinct rumble pattern at higher rpms. I loved this muffler, it had a clean 60s kind of muscle car sound.

Spintech (V8 Dakota) I initially liked for their distinct sound but found them to be somewhat restrictive and mine internally rotted out quickly. When I switched to the hookers my 1/4 mile times improved.

Large Magnaflow (V8 Dakota) nice mellow rumble, my only issue is it had a slight drone at 55-60mph.

Flowmaster 50 (V8 Dakota) with tailpipes past bumper it was nice and mellow, but sounded horrible and messy at full throttle. I dumped it before the axle and it was freaking annoyingly loud drone inside.

Dynomax Super Turbo on a v6 S-10 was super quiet, not much louder then stock. Had a mellow rumble at idle but to quiet otherwise.

Currently have a Borla Pro XS on my 08 Dakota (V8 no front resonator).
With the stock pipes and resonators it was quiet, you could tell it had a little rumble but only when you where on the gas. I removed the large front resonator and it woke up, has a nice old school V8 rumble and no drone on the highway.
