Default help want to buy CAI

i'd like yall's opinions.... want to buy a CAI for HIGH Life. should i go with a name brand $$$$$$ one or a Cheapie off ebay? im not drag racing the truck or anything. just want more air and i might get one those covers from Auto Anything for the filter so it doesnt get wet. i dont like how the way the air intake is set up now..open to the inner fender. my buddy sucked up water that way and hydro locked his engine. what are the pros and cons of the ebay cheapies?

Your buddy must have thought he was driving a duck and drove into a river!
There is no way under normal driving you could suck in enough water to hydrolock an engine.

The main problem with the factory setup the size of the duct work from the fender to the air box...WAY too small. Some of us have increased the opening/duct...some have replaced everything with an expensive name brand setup...some have made their own from PVC.

It all depends on $$$ and what you are trying to accomplish.

Whatever route you go, make sure that the IAT sensor is mounted securely. Some of the cheap sets they do not fit so well.

My 2cents,
Hammond

Buy once, cry once.

It's a nice product. Shop around on the 'net. Your buddy must have been fording a river to hydrolock an engine with the intake as high as it is. Methinks he did something much dumber than he admits to...

I got move off ebay for $ 30. modified it with a $ 5 extension piece from autozone. Works great except for the grommet for the ait. Had to replace that part.

I've got an ebay cheapy similar to jkeaton's. I painted it with black header paint to prevent heat soak.

I made my own and I think it works just as good as a K&N or some of the other brands
