Gas Mileage?
How would I know? I usually fill up at Shell, or Sheetz but mostly Shell (I think Sheetz uses Marathon fuel). I didn't think there is ethanol in the typical unleaded fuel but who knows what kind of fillers they put it in.
It will say "up to x% ethanol" or "ethanal added/enhanced" gasoline right on the pump. In WI, we have 10% ethanol across the whole state. Normally you will know whether or not its in there. If you can avoid ethanol substituted gasoline, do so. Youll get better mileage, and you wont support a market that drives up our gasoline and food markets. Ethanol comes from corn, and we now have the fuel and food/meat market competing for the same product. Just my .02.
I have started to get my gas from my parents neighbor. He owns a farm and doesn't like the ethanol either, yet he grows corn for it (?
). He has a 5000 Gallon underground tank that he gets filled up from a company. It is 100% gasoline and he only charges me $.20 cents more per gallon than he pays. Last time it was 3.18 (NY avg is $3.7x)
Trust me when I say that isn't the norm.
I averaged 20.54mpg over the weekend on nearly 95% highway. My truck is a 2011 QC, 2WD, 4.7, 3.92 gear and 18" wheel option.
I don't think I broke 65mph the entire trip. Took a lot of two and four lane country backroads running about 55mph steady on those. Drafted 18 wheelers whenever possible. Tires pumped up to about 38psi. 90/10 gas and ethanol blend as posted by the pump. Was making a conscious effort to drive efficiently.
The rest of the time I've averaged between 18.5 and 19mpg for highway runs. Driving about 65 to 70 steady.
For comparision; I was able to get 36.4mpg out of my 2006 Nissan Sentra Spec-V on a similar run from Atlanta to Miami back in April using the same techniques. This is a car that is only rated at 27mpg highway.
Sometimes you can coax good mileage out of a vehicle. Sometimes you can't. I think there just isn't any room to play with on these Dakota's regardless of how efficient you drive.

How often does he fill that tank? Is the fuel still good at the end of the tank.
That, my friend, is the statement of the year on regards to fuel mileage and these trucks. I'm fixing to go on a trip tomorrow...mother-in-law might not be around much longer, anyway, I'm going to compute the old fashioned way and drive conservitely and see what happens
