Your right. One of the trucks I test drove before mine had that console.

Thanks. Yeah, the console is the same for both 2nd and 3rd Gen Dakotas. Apparently the only difference is the plug for the wiring. Very happy with it.

it is the same up to the 08 model. the center console changes in 08.

OK that's what I thought. I love mine I have the storage area full of stuff and when I go on trips my ruger 44mag goes in there too.

A few pictures that can give you a better idea what to expect.

The floorboard, in which the carpeting was covering the necessary holes to install the console.
  • I had to slice the carpet open for the 4 mounting bolts (Green arrows).
  • I had to slice the carpet open for the power outlet wires, which is a large lump (Red arrow).
  • I had to slice the carpet open for the fin guide, which is a fin on the bottom of the console that it slides into (Yellow arrow).

You can remove the center seat by the 4 bolts that connect it to the brackets. This will make removing the brackets possible.
Bottom of the center seat, one bolt had been removed already in the picture.

The passenger seat bracket mounts. These are the 4 studs that you have to drill out (2 front, 2 rear).
Or you could just cut the brackets off of the passenger seats like you will have to do on the drivers seat. I drilled them out.

Front passenger seat mount, green arrows point to studs to remove.

The Drivers seat brackets that must be cut, they are one piece with the seat floor mounts. I cut about where the green lines are.

Now I'm going out to remove the passenger seat to hopefully fix the damn airbag sensor. Wish me luck!

Dito, this is excelent!

Please do let us know the outcome of your sensor fix. That is what worries me the most, I would hate to have to go to the stealership!!!

Well I found a way to get the airbag lights out.

Just temporary, I pulled the seat and checked the wiring & plug, all of it looked good. There are 4 weight sensors in the seat. If I put the slightest weight on any corner of the seat, the lights go out. The manual says it could reset itself after a short while, not sure what that means.

are you referring to the center light above the radio being on? Isn't that one supposed to be on (as in airbag is off) if no one is in the seat? Or the one in the peedo area that comes on if there is a problem?
