Really? I was getting 14-15 with quad cab, 4x4 and the V8 driving stuff around for work (about 300 lbs of tools) so 12 is really really bad. I'd do a full on tune up and then look for clogged everythings.
OR, just keep your foot out of it a bit.
I really think it has something to do with the gas around here. My buddy has a Ram and he get 10 mpg

Question

[quote=08_Dakota;2573204]Hey Guys,

"I have heard that putting in a K&N air filter and switching exhaust to the Magnaflow will increase it about 10 MPG is that really true?"

Are you sure you did not misread this? I believe the K&N filter is supposed to increase the HP by 10, not mpg. (At least this is why I bought one.)

our 89 sport, 3.9 4x4 with fiberglass cap and two people, interstate trip 325 miles: 22 to 24mpg. Speed 55 tp 60 indicted, but consruction radar told me speedo was slow 3-4 mpg. Our 94 318, same trip pulling car dolly big tool boxes on truck, 19 to 21mpg. Its how you drive it. In town forget it 89 averages 15 94 12 o 14.

I put on a CIA and a high flow muffler and took off resonators and I got about 10 miles PER TANK. I'm sure someone has already said that, but I'm not gonna read everybodies replies.
