This is going to be a touchy subject and I'm sure generate many comments. I personally do not turn or replace the rotors until there is a need. I just replace the pads. Never had an issue doing that. If I see a rotor is severely worn (ridged) or feel it warped, then I just replace it. With the tight tolerances these days most places won't turn them because then they would be out of spec. (I was told that on 2 occasions at 2 different places). Not saying anyone is right or wrong, I'm just stating my own experience.

Agree, I have replaced pads many times without turning them and no issues.
