Default Malfunction indication light

On way to EMS call I forgot to shut off my hazard light which drained my battery. After a jump start my Malfunction indication light now stays on. I did the on - off - on - off - on with no code showing up on my display. Is there a way to reset this light?

That sounds about right. That happened with my work 08 Ram after jump starting it. Took it in to the dealer and they said it had a "chipped key malfunction"... I didn't have chipped keys cause it was a 4500 box truck with base options lol.

See if an autoparts store will let ya mess with their code reader, it should just be a false code that you can delete with no worries, or you can take it to the dealer to be certain.

Electrical tape will fix the problem. A little piece over the light and you're good to go...atleast until you fix it for real.

Agree but I think more like a half hour.

Just head to an autoparts store that will allow you to use their code reader and just reset. Its most likely a code saying your battery went dead or low voltage in your electrical system, etc. I have had it before when I had a cooler I left plugged in, in my truck. I nearly killed the battery, luckly the safe mode kicked in and saved enough power to start it.

ok here is what fixed the issue, i stopped and filled the tank and PooF, the light went out. was not the gas cap as i removed that as soon as the light went on, so i can only assume that filling the tank did the trick. Thank You for all your help!

It's so nice when a light goes away, glad to hear it. Don't be a stranger around here.

As I remember right, my Rams battery died a number of times (due to my company being too cheap to change it) First time threw a check engine, and subsequent times after that. The last time before they changed the battery threw a red manfunction light which, when read by the dealer, said "chipped key malfunction" they cleared it and it never came back.

My only guess is that jump starting it can cause the computer to toss random lights at you.

I had a whole bunch of funny lights when we forgot to disconnect the battery while changing the plugs.

We just disconnected it for about a half hour and everything was back to normal after that.
