i did an ho swap about 6months ago. i had ho cams in my standard motor and they rocked. the full HO motor is better than just standard 4.7 and HO cams. the heads and crank is where the major differences are in the motors. if you have the $$$$$ and want to boost your truck swap a HO motor. if you want some nice power just do ho cams.

any opinions on doing the HO swap? or how hard?
IF I were to do a swap, Id probably get an Hemi instead of the 4.7, cause a 4.7 HO would cost probably be as much (possibly more than) as an hemi, but Hemi's are a little bit more avaliable, and there would be more aftermarket stuff for them. Just a thought.
