What efan are you running? Sounds to me like you're not getting airflow close to your stock fan out of it, possibly just a low CFM fan or not getting enough current to spin at full power.

You're right!

New and Improved Instructions!

From what I've seen they are easy to remove. Drink a beer, Drain coolant, drink another beer, remove belt, drink another beer, unbolt, drink a beer, drop bolts under truck, drink a beer, proceed to get pissed off looking for bolt, drink another beer, find bolt (drink a beer in celebration), drink a beer, bolt in new one, drink a beer, attach belt, drink a beer (then vomit), fill back up, drink another beer before you admire your work! This can all be done in about an hour (depending on your tolerance for alcohol).

Final step, send your wife to get you another 12 pack before you drink you last beer!

Now that I think about it, you already have your clutch fan off, so yea, should be a breeze! Plus the 2nd gen has a plastic shroud you had to remove to get to everything coolant related, so you had to drain the windshield wiper fluid, etc... I won't miss that part when I do coolant work on this truck.

Some added steps for you though:

Use bathroom, milk last beer waiting for wife, when wife arrives open new beer and show off your work, avoid spitting beer in surprise when your wife asks you what that blue gasket on top of your battery is for...

Nothing "wrong" but if you tow a lot I'd consider a transmission oil cooler before being doing much to cool the engine itself (cept the t-stat cuz that's cheap and easy).
Worry when it's approaching, near, or at 3/4, panic if it's higher

I would think 3000 cfm is plenty, my Flex-a-Lite is 3300 and I've got a lot more weight to pull. I know guys with 2600 cfm fans out of Furds in Rams who tow all the time...
