Front reciever hitch? with winch?
Does anyone have or know anyone that has a reciever hitch for the front of my truck and bought a winch and just slid it in the reeciever if it would break? I am very interested in getting one for the front and rear and just building a cradle or buy one to slide into the recever. And run the wires both ways and make it an easy hook up. also does anyone know how many pound winch i should get?

Check Warn, pricey but my only options for my Grand Cherokee were Curt, which is only 3500 lb. rated AND hangs way too low for my liking and Warn, which has a rated capacity of 9000# line pull and sits higher. Now Warn is pricey and list was like $280, but I was able to find one (new) on Amazon.com for $198 shipped. I don't know if Warn supports the Dak with a front receiver but their website should tell you.
I REALLY like my front receiver and have made a few things to go on the front of the Jeep. Basically anything you can weld a 2" square pipe to and drill a hole through becomes usable on the front. To date, I've made a light bar, a fishing rod holder in addition to the winch. More things are in the works...

I don't have the rear of the Jeep wired for the winch but did run a set to the rear bumper of my truck, so I can always put the portable on the rear of the truck in addition to the fixed winch on the front...

I've actually done quite a bit of research on this because it has been something that I have really been interested in doing.
From what I found you need a standard 2" front receiver, like this one. Just remember when you install the front mounted receiver you loose the tow hooks. But like Hammer said, the sky's the limit when it comes to hitch accessories. (You can always use one of these)
You then need the winch which you can be somewhat flexible with the brand. Just remember you get what you pay for. I personally like Warn. They have 2 pre-built portable receiver mounted winches. But their equipment is pretty expensive.

I would personally stick with #1 because it's rated line pull is 6000 lbs. And the receiver is only rated at 5000. So that should be more than enough.
I hope this helps and if anyone wants to correct me, feel free. This is just what I've found from doing a bit of research.
