Do we have to replace upper control arm?

Pressing out ball joints can take some time if they are rust welded in place. Take into consideration the amount of labor cost to press out and press in a ball joint vs the time to just undo 3 bolts and put 3 bolts back in.

I want to replace the entire arm. I just wanted to get some more info to shove in his face. It won't do any good but oh well. He lives with us so it's kinda hard to argue lol.

When I pressed new lowers into my S10 arms, it was..... VERY FREAKING HARD AND INSANELY TIME CONSUMING heh, haha. They kept wanting to **** sideways and go in crooked, it certainly wasn't worth it but I was soooo broke at the time. But the price difference was a big consideration between new arms and just balljoints. On our Dakotas though, that's not the case. These uppers are so tiny that I don't think getting just a balljoint, even if they sold it, would save too much money.

I rebuilt that whole front end, it was my first mechanic experience outside of maintenance. I was so proud... and it drove soo smooth and straight afterward. like a car.

Wouldn't be my first rodeo with working on things. Hell I put a motor in my escort lol. I know I can do the front end on this truck but when people bring things up that aren't true it kinda gets irritating.

I can't wait to feel the difference. I'm wanting to do all moog parts.

I jacked the truck up today and found some play in the left front wheel where the sound is at. Jacked up the right side wheel and no play was found. No sound on that side either. Can't tell if it's upper or lower. Need a buddy to help me with it. Don't have 2 sets of eyes lol

is the play side to side or up and down? One is tie rods, the other is ball joints....I.E grabbing the wheel at 6 and 12 o'clock and getting movement is ball joints, grabbing at 3 and 9 o'clock and getting movement is tie rods...

It's up and down. It was more like 5 and 12 because I couldn't get my hand under it that well. Only have a 4000 pound jack lol.

Yea lol, I have a tiny jack too. I can lift from center cross member and get 1 tire 1/4 inch off the ground. I tried using a makeshift extender once, turned into a makeshift catapult instead.

Mine about did on the frame LOL! I went straight for the front cross member afterwards.
