lifted dakota?
body lifts and leveling kits give you more clearance to add bigger tires, which give you a higher truck, which can give you more angle of attack, and let you clear bigger obstacles.
suspension lifts give you lift (same advantages) and travel (keeping wheels on the ground is a good thing), making a 6" suspension lifted truck much more off-road capable than the 6" body lifted/leveled truck.
both offer the advantage of making hot girls wet, and being high enough to keep the fatties from jumping in.

lets be honest this is the only reason for a lifted truck
A body lift will make the body sit higher above the frame which will allow you to put bigger tires on but will leave your suspension stock so so your frame will sill sit as low to the ground as it is unless you do put bigger tires on it the just what ever the difference in size of the tires are.
For the suspension lift you can go 2 ways 1. Leveling kit which will put a spacer above your front struts combind with a block lift in the rear or 2 the jmr kit which will lower your front diff and give you more suspension travel. You can also combine the leveling kit and the body lift. If you do a lot of ruff 4x4ing then I would go with the jmr kit but if you do light 4x4ing I would suggest the 2" leveling kit with the 2" block in the rear while going this route go ahead and change your front struts out while you have it tore apart (which is what I would like to do and would suggest) or the body lift

The main difference is in price and installation of course. Spacer and blocks give you a 2 inch pseudo-suspension lift and will cost a fraction of what the 6 inch suspension lift will.
The particular 6 inch lift that is available now will not give more travel other than letting things clear the fenders. The actual bump to bump and stiffness is unchanged.
Body lifts are a pain to install without spending an equal amount of money on beer.
and they look ugly

[QUOTE=Evan Rattray;2725207]I got my tax return in and can pay off my truck, now to start upgrading. I was thinking about lifting my 05 Dakota about 3 inches. I've heard mixed reviews about lifting dakotas and having them break shortly after, is this because they installed improperly? or is there just a problem with a lifted dakota?
a friend of mine told me to look into a body lift kit, have to say ive never heard of that, kind of makes me embarrassed to say. is that a better option?
this is my first vehicle I've thought about lifting and just want to do it the smart way without damaging anything or doing it wrong.
Mann I PUT A 2 INCH LEVEL ON MINE AND I CANT EVEN GET OVER 10 MILES PER HR ! SO IM BUYING DROP BRACKETS SEE IF THAT HELPS !D HOPE IT DOES DO NOT BUY DOKOTA 4X4 ILL TELL U THAT
