Default Exhaust Manifold Bolts??????

I am trying to fix an exhaust leak and having some trouble finding parts. I know my leak is coming from my exhaust manifold, there is black soot all around on both sides, this leads myself and a friend of mine that it is the gaskets. easy find, Autozone has a set for about 10 bucks, problem is, one of the bolts is broken, when I put the socket on it to get the heat shield off, it came right off without any pressure. awesome.... anyway. I can't find a single website that has exhaust manifold bolts. I've tried wording it every way I can think of with no luck. the only way I have found to get bolts, is to buy headers, which I'm not against, just don't have the money unfortunately. anyone know where I can order a full set of exhaust manifold bolts?

thanks

Call customer service for one of the company's that makes the headers and ask them if you could special order just some bolts for it. May not be listed on their website, but they could probably send you a "replacement parts" type order.

Or take one of the good ones into a good/real hardware store and see if they can either match it with something in inventory, or maybe even craft one (my local hardware store has a threader/etc).

First option is slower, but might be cheaper, maybe even free! As they might only be coded for customers who bought parts without all the pieces in it, and therefore would be getting them at no charge.

If the bolts are a special shape, I'd recommend getting them from the dealership. If they aren't, then you need to know if they're metric or sae and get the thread pitch or type, then, for metric, get strength 10.9 and for sae, get grade 8 from a local fastner shop. If the bolt broke, how did you remove the remaining shank?

I just went to Ace hardware and got some new stainless grade 8 fasteners to replace mine.

the exhaust manifold bolts are 8x1.25x45mm. 5mm of that is the taper at the end. I used a 40mm just fine.

lol thats a 600$ labor job plus .5 to pull out each bolt and they ARE NOT EASY, if you have steady hands you can get a dremel or a tool to grind a -- on the head of the broken bolt, at least if its flushly broken off at the head so you can fit a flathead on it and unscrew it, soak it with wd 40 or freeze off, MAKE SURE

Easy day. Exhaust bolts are Metric M8-1.25 x 40mm. If you have a broken one just use an extractor to get it out.

If he already has the manifold off, there should be room to get to the broken bolt but there's still a potential hazard in attempting to use an extractor where either the drill bit or the extractor bit can easily snap leaving you with a more difficult problem.
