Angry Broken exhaust bolt

So has anybody else had this happen? The rearmost bolt on the right side exhaust manifold decided to break off at the head. The truck had just reached 50000 miles. Fortunately I was able to get to it with a short angled airdrill that I borrowed from a buddy. Got a hole drilled in it & was able to get it out with an easyout without having to remove the manifold & probably break several more bolts in the process lol. I smeared some antisieze on a 10.9 bolt (they're 8mm x 1.25 btw) tightened it up & it doesn't leak and seems fine luckily. These bolts look too small & wimpy for the application in my opinion

That sucks man. I hit mine with PB blaster before going from stock manifolds to headers and I had no issues extracting the bolts. I know Viperkota broke some manifold bolts a while back.

What was most surprising & why it sucked was the bolt broke on the stock manifold, hadn't ever been touched by anyone since leaving the factory?

Mine did the same thing. Had a local shop replace the gasket. They also retapped the hole and installed a larger stud, as this is a common problem.

Dodge uses 8mm studs which are undersized for this application.

I would guess 1.25. Don't think you want to mess with that dimension by going longer or shorter.

in the original post 10.9 is the grade of bolt, 8x1.25 is the thread size and pitch. There is always a third part of the equation which is length in mm. Thanks for keeping the thread at the top

Can someone also chime in on the TQ specs for this area?

I have the same problem on the Drive side manifold. The shop wants 350 to change the gaskets. How hard is this to do? Do I need to remove the fender and everything around it? Thanks.
