Moore Ram Air Hood and Intake Quesiton
I am new to the forum and I have been searching diligently. I read the great forums on the Moore Performance Ram Air Hoods but now my questions revolve around the cold air intake to make it as functional as possible. I see the dual intake off the throttle body, and then I see the hood can dump over a CAI near the passenger side bumper. I want to get the hood to open up right over the engine and have a proper cold air intake. I've been looking at this and I really like it. Does anyone know how to make this so that it is as functional as possible?
Welcome to the forum! I used to work in Herndon, lived in Sterling, that wwas in the 80's though, probably does not even look the same now...anyhow, to your question, Eric had a functional hood scoop and so did Blown. Just takes a big dose of liquid courage to take the sawzall to the hood of your truck. I have a non functional scoop for now because I'm too chicken to cut mine out...lol..oh, and post up some pics of your truck....is it really a night runner?? Those are so awesome!
Thanks for the welcome. The area probably has changed a lot since then. I do have a 2006 Dakota Night Runner 4.7L High Output V8. It's been stock forever. I've been a contractor for a year in Afghanistan so I have a lot of money burning a hole in my pocket. I want to completely build up the truck now that I have the money. Moore Performance makes functional fiberglass ram air hoods for the 2006's now and I'm going to get one ( http://www.fiberglass-hoods.com/dodg...005-2007.shtml ) The only thing is, I have to rig up my own intake. Every intake I have found routes to the passenger side. I want it to dump right onto the engine and have a forward facing intake coming off my throttle body like the first picture in my first post...but I have no idea how to make it. Any suggestions? And I tried uploading a picture of my truck but it won't allow me. I think it's because I'm new. Not sure.
That's a good looking hood. Welcome to DF.

DakotaFF..Thanks so much for the info on posting pictures. Now hopefully I can learn a little something on how to create the intake I'm looking for....I'll repost with the photos to show what I'm wondering about.
The first picture is of the hood I am getting..functional ram air from the link I provided in one of my previous posts. The blue line indicates where the opening of the Ram Air is and the red line indicates where the air is pushed into. The second photo is of the cold air intake I want to make for the functional ram air. Obviously it is just a K&N filter..but the connection to the throttle body confuses me. The one in the picture looks like it works with the sensor and is mounted pretty solidly. Anyone have any idea how to connect that type of filter to the throttle body like that one is?

Really, all you need is the filter, a piece of pipe and a couple of those rubber connectors. You can buy all that stuff at most auto marts stores, they sell it by the piece here, you can buy the chrome elbows, straight pieces, etc and the rubber connectors in multiple colors. The only sensor you have is the IAT which you can just punch a hole in the pipe and tape it in or buy a grommet that fits it. I know some on here have removed it from the air intake completely and just have it hanging or in the wheel well so it picks up a cooler temp. Here is how to cut the hole:
