I think the one I posted was functional. Can't check right now to verify. But for sure it has an intake that bolts right on top of the 4.7 motor and sticks up through the hood. I would love one... maybe next year.

So I guess the shaker hoods are functional scoops, but not functional shakers. Then you have to pay 400 for a CAI system that attaches scoop to the motor instead of the hood, so it will shake when you rev. sooo expensive indeed.

and damnit i would shoot someone (my choice) for that bumper cover if it was real.

To the OP, did you already order your hood?

I made a functional hood scoop with ram air box and was happy with it.

Thanks so much for the posts guys. I really appreciate it. I have not ordered my hood..currently a contractor in Afghanistan but will be returning in 6 weeks. Doing my research now. I looked at those shakers but I think I'm going to go with the Moore Performance Fiberglass Ram Air Hood http://www.fiberglass-hoods.com/dodg...005-2007.shtml ....The guy makes them pre-cut depending on what kind of intake you have to make them functional...so It takes away the pain of having to cut it myself..plus it comes with heat extractors so that helps as well. From what JKeaton said about ordering the couplings and filter and punching the hole in the tube to connect my sensor..I think that's the route I'm going to go. I found a website spectre performance that you can buy all the parts to include the connectors for the sensor. Pretty much exactly like Blown has shown in his post before this one...except shorter..just have to find a way to mount it to the truck so that it doesn't fall off or shake around all over the place and loosen up.

An idea I had was to bend some aluminum strip aroung and equal sized scrap of pipe and then flatten out the ends to mount somewhere on the intake that alreadt has bolts. But that's still in my head.

Also, about that spectre place, make sure to search their product numbers on Amazon or other e-tailers because you can often find better prices.

The reason I pushed mine forward was because the main support for the hood sits right above the throttle body. With the bolt on hood, I didn't want to cut a hold in it. The one I came up with worked perfectly and I was working a way to use it with the blower until I sold my truck.

I have my Moore hood on order, I am just waiting for it to ship. Like you said they manufacture them to order and do a custom port for where ever your intake is. I have a K&N FIPK system that goes in place of the old stock air box, and gave them the measurements to put my hole there. I just can't wait to get it on the truck....
