Default Pads, Rotors & Paint

Well, I got this done on Friday but haven't really had time to post all weekend! So..rotors from brakeperformance.com, Akebono ceramic pads and some VHT Aluminum Silver Caliper Paint. Truck stops much quicker now and pedal is more responsive/firm. I did not open any brake lines or replace my fluid..while I was under there I realized my entire passenger side is covered in PS fluid so I think I will be doing a rack this summer although I don't have any issues when it comes to steering/handling via wheel. Let me know if you like the color choices on the calipers! I almost did lime green to match the diff

and it would def be cool if you painted the new ones, for a nice balance of silver and black

Thanks guys, I'm not too sure if I want to paint them. They aren't the tacky chrome clad ones they are the real aluminum ones and look reallllly nice polished. I know I have murdered everything but with the paint color being bright silver I can still pull off the look without black wheels. I will be using my current wheels on a more aggressive tire in the winter and to answer your question NJ, they are not plasti-dipped. It is Rustoleum or whoever's "High Performance Wheel Paint" gloss black..has held up pretty well but when I get new tires I will probably repaint them and use Plasti-dip. I used the product on my grill and really like it.

ah he's tough. tougher than plastic wheels! I honestly never would have known about the plastic thing without knocking on the wheels myself, they look good. Better than the 20" chrome clads that were on a Ford Edge I rented once.

Steve, your calipers look great. No need for flashy colors, it just looks clean and new. So the ceramics stop pretty good anyways huh? I never really noticed how little clearance there is between the caliper and wheel, that's tight!

Aw, that's ok. the only chrome clad part on my truck that is not plastic is the rear bumper....at least that's metal. (tin, I think, but still metal).

Thanks, Preston. Yes..my truck actually stops now haha it was kind of an issue before. I can't compare them to semi-metallics in new condition considering this is the first brake job that I have had done on the truck but yes, the ceramics work just fine. I don't know how much of a difference the slotted rotors are making but I'm sure they enhance stopping power as well! You're right, there is very little clearance on these 16" wheels..kind of scary, eh?

So anyways, a buddy of mine is working at a stealership right now and has gotten me two out of my four tires.. 275 40 20
