Default Backing up a camper

Hello, I have a 2011 dakota 6 cylinder which I use to pull my pop up camper ( pulls like a champ) I only have one problem and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas, I keep my pop up in my driveway which has a steep grade until it levels off when I back the pop up into the driveway it seems to put a strain on the transmission I was wondering if I would put the truck in 4 wheel drive if it would make it any easier, has anyone else has done this?
Thanks Wilssm

as long as your not turning, putting it into 4-lo would give you better gearing and make it easier to back it up the incline, imo.

I heard about something to do with the programming, about how there's a rev limit built in for reverse gear that kills the power? I forget where I heard that, pretty sure it was in the forums somewhere.. IIRC they had the dealer reprogram, or there's a TSB out for it or something..

Putting it in 4low is a good thing to do when backing a trailer up. Just remember you can not do sharp turns or manoeuvring.

you could add a front hitch and push the trailer up the drive way.

dont forget about the laggggy drive-by-wire, good luck trying to blip the peddle, i usually put one foot on the break and then hold the revs up a little bit (to spool the converter) then use the break to back up inch by inch

also is it in tow/haul

I found that thread, but I doubt it has anything to do with your truck since it was a TSB from 2006. But it is on the V6s

I'm glad my 5.7 won't have DBW, my kia does, as I found out while I was under the hood the other day, which explains quite a bit about the feel of the car.

That's a very good idea too, to torque up the converter and just use the brakes to release the power that's ready already. Eliminates the DBW problem as well.
